Community

How do you contribute to the communities where you operate?

Whether through a strong commitment to water stewardship, volunteering, or community investment, we aim to make a positive impact every day. That is why individuals, communities and organizations all across the country choose to partner with us.

We bring social and economic value to the communities where we operate by creating high-paying jobs with good benefits, hiring local vendors, and paying local taxes, and by sharing our experience in water resource management.

We also invest in many community projects, from watershed protection to waste cleanup to  emergency donations. For instance, in Guelph, we have donated $460,000 to the University of Guelph Groundwater Program, which led to an $11 million grant from the federal government to conduct groundwater studies locally. We are also one of the largest sponsors for Friends of Mill Creek, donating $10,000 annually since 2003, supporting efforts of the rehabilitation of Mill Creek.

What are some community initiatives that you are involved in?

Although we are part of a North American company, we are committed to act locally. We are proud to support many deserving organizations in the communities where we operate, including the Guelph General Hospital Foundation, Guelph Community Foundation, Puslinch Minor Soccer Club, Aberfoyle Agriculture Society, Aberfoyle Farmer’s Market, and Food4Kids program.

Not only is our company involved with supporting local charitable organizations, our employees are actively involved in local charitable organizations. For instance, we have employees who are actively involved with the Puslinch Optimist Club, Rotary Club of Guelph, Big Brothers Big Sisters Guelph, Guelph/Wellington Children’s Foundation, Cambridge Ice Hounds and KidsAbility (just to name a few!).

We also do our part to keep our community clean. Twice a year, we have a group of employees who volunteer their time to clean-up portions of Wellington Road 34 that we adopted through the Adopt-a-Road program. Every year at the holiday season, our employees conduct several internal fundraising activities to raise money for local families through the Guelph/Wellington Children’s Foundation Adopt-a-Family program.

Do you donate water to any local or national causes?

We are dedicated to helping ensure communities have access to clean, safe drinking water in times of need. We work on an ongoing basis with relief partners, such as the Red Cross, to help deliver water where and when it is needed. In 2017 alone, we donated more than 700,000 bottles of water to help those affected by the floods and wildfires in British Columbia. In 2018 when there were local boil water advisories in Wellington County, our employees loaded up their cars to deliver water to the communities in need.

We donate an average of 1,000,000 bottles annually to local charities and events.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis in Canada, in March 2019, we have donated over 1.2 million bottles of water and counting to hospitals, Food Banks, the Red Cross and other organizations in need.
